<p>Every organization trying to decrease its ecological impact can set up an Environment Management System.</p>
<p>Two frameworks can be used:</p>
<p>* ISO 14001, defined by the International Standardization Organization in 1996 and reviewed in 2004<br />
* EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme). EMAS is the EU tool for measuring the continuous efforts an organization makes in improving its environmental performances.</p>
<p>Both cover noticeably the same aspects.  Both define the environmental policy of the organization and the environmental improvement objectives. EMAS goes even further by requiring an environmental declaration written in a way it can be understood by most people.  That’s the the main difference between both frameworks.</p>
